There have been some subtle signs of spring in our area. A slight greening and growing of the grass, the peacocks are screaming, and we got our first chicken egg of the season.
I would like to think that Ramona the Brave laid it.
She's my favorite hen.

I'm going to give her credit.
But the color of it would suggest it was....

my new favorite hen, Smokey.

Personally, I think it was a collaborative deal and Ramona and Smokey both had something to do with it. Just a gut feeling I have.
:-)
I love yur hens. I want to get some Buff Orp hens this spring. We still have about 3 ft of snow. No green in Maine yet. But soon. Happy Sping.
Smokey is really pretty. What kind is she?
She is an Americana from a galvanized tub at Del's. Ramona is a Red Star...from a different galvanized tub at Del's.
I love the Red and Black Stars. Nice birds, nice layers.
I just love the color of Smokey, an Americana? Really, all my Americana's are black with brown tips on their feathers. She must be a rare one, at any rate she's beautiful!
Love it....you will definitely be needing those egg cartons soon!
I just love your hens!! They are so pretty--glad you are getting eggs :)
Thanks for giving my my chicken fix today, Wendy! Very pretty, all.
What lovely hens!
Smokey is a beautiful girl. Several years ago ... I had an Americana that was a little darker gray. Then I had her smoky baby chicks. I loved their unique color.
