Cora Belle Had a Visitor

Cora Belle's best human friend came to visit but got a little shy when I brought out my camera. Cora Belle was not a fan of the umbrella...nor were the chickens.

I was a big fan.

Decisions Decisions

I have a hard time making decisions sometimes. I can drive myself crazy. So the decision of whether or not to keep either Zipper or Notty's Boy as bucks was weighing on my mind. They are both beautiful and have wonderful pedigrees so it would be understandable if I should decide to leave them as a buck and not wether them. I made a list of all my does that I could use them each on and Zipper came out with the most. Zipper is the last son of a very nice buck. He is very pretty and correct.
But is also the sweetest, friendliest baby here. He crawls in your lap and dances on your head. He will stand forever just to get a good scratch and when you stop he taps you with his foot. This little guy needs to be petted. So with that I decided that I would like him to be someone' pet. A child's pet. Wear a collar and carry a little pack with a juice box and goldfish crackers.

Notty's boy is a super model. He is an eyeful, that one.

More reserved than Zipper, he is sweet and thoughtful. One could understand why I thought long and hard about keeping this one too. But...he is also Zipper's best friend and the thought of them going together was very appealing.
So Zipper and Boy are going to live with a very nice family with three kids of the human kind. They will teach this family the joy of living with goats. They will make this family laugh with their silly boy antics. They will crawl into their laps and snuggle in...or dance on their heads.
And hopefully carry a juice box or two.

Parenting Styles

Buttons and Cora Belle have settled in together and are busy with their new kids....well Cora Belle is busy. Buttons has her own style of parenting. She loves her babies alright but she doesn't hover. She is the type of mother that lets her kids run all around the restaurant and then smiles at you like "aren't they cute?"
And run they do, up and down the pasture like a race track, bumping into chickens and llama legs along the way.

Aren't they cute.

Cora Belle is a helicopter parent. She is on constant alert for anything that may harm her children and they share her concern. She is the kind of mother that fixes her child a too-big snack and makes sure they wear a coat, complete with hat and gloves. Her kids are please and thank you kind of kids.

They don't have nearly as much fun as Buttons' kids,

but they are fine with that, glued to their mother's side.

Class Act

I knew when I fed this morning that today would be the day. Cora Belle labored like she does everything in life...with class. She took her time. Chewed her cud. Pushed when she felt like it and knew when to ask for a little assistance.

This is what came out. A girl who looks like her mother and a boy who looks like his dad.

The Apple

You know the saying-the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree. Zipper is the apple of Buttons' tree. He has her same sweet personality. At one day old he would stand by me to be petted and then get that dopey look in his eye when I scratched. If I stop he paws my leg until I scratch again. He crawls into my lap and relishes a good face rub.

Boots on the other hand is more independent...which is a nicer way of saying she doesn't give a hoot about me.
