In a Rut

It is the time of year when all young minds turn to romance. In the last couple of weeks the smell around the buck pen has been gearing up to impress the lady goats. Notty has gone from a nice reasonable young goat to a googly eyed maniac. He stands on his stump and calls to the goats across the field...constantly. Notty needed a friend. Another buck to share his bachelor pad.

So I brought this home.

His name is Pepe. He is Cora Belle's nephew. His mother, Boxcar Betty, has been called the prettiest goat one judge had ever seen. Call me shallow but I just like him for his blue eyes.
Notty was very happy to see him after first mistaking him for a doe.

It was a rude welcome for the unsuspecting Pepe.

Yes, the hormones are very active right now. I hope Pepe wasn't too traumatized.

Hey, Ho! Peanut here! And he is my nephew too! Nice to see he is carrying on the family tradition of good looks - but where in the world did he get all that color???

How do you keep finding these fantastic black and white goats?

Notty is a handsome looking male, but you can keep his, um, perfume?

Orville can definitely identify with poor Pepe. It was a rough couple of days when he and Shaman were in the buck pen alone.....
