Finally

My hens have never been working gals. They are all about sitting around talking and going to lunch. They don't have time to lay eggs. So while everyone I know enjoyed eggs through the winter, my girls were relaxing and taking it easy...and going to lunch...a lot.

With spring right around the corner they just can't help themselves and lay the occasional egg.

Oh - Farm Eggs! My hens are starting to get the idea that it's almost spring too! I actually got 5 eggs today. It's been weeks and weeks since I've had good farm eggs. I'm so glad they've decided to start laying again. Now I have to look in all the goat's hay feeders to find eggs again!

great photos! I don't have the opportunity to have hens and therefore fresh eggs so enjoy one for me!

That first pic is a prize winner, in my opinion! It's wonderful.
And I *love* talking and going to lunch, so I can really relate to your girls. Mine did lay through the winter, but much less that normal...I'm ready for them to start picking it up a bit. They're not so much talking and going to lunch as they are whining and bickering that I'm not giving them enough treats. :-)

Yes, even the laziest of my lot are checking out the nesting boxes - thinking about laying. Looks like yours are producing!

I love that first photo!

My lazy girls have finally decided to begin laying as well. It`s either feast or famine with them.

We were buying eggs ( Yuk) now we`re giving them away! =)

Now that they have started back maybe they will get serious about their jobs! I was threatening to squeeze mine until they laid an egg! They must have listened, they started laying a few weeks ago!

Nice picture!

Chickens lay according to day length. I have a lightbulb in the chicken house that is on a timer, extending the day length. This way I get large eggs all winter long. Not quite as large as summer and not quite as many, but good close enough.
