Half A Century

Today I turned 50. To some that sounds old to some that sounds young. Some days I feel old, some days I feel young. Turning 50 is a bit freeing. You have heard people say they know who they are at 50. I know who I am at 50 but I knew who I was at 30 as well. But at 50 I know how I want to spend my time and whom I want to spend my time with.

At 50 I realize I can't change anyone...only how I respond to them.

At 50 I have decided to spend my time with people who are kind and positive. People that make me feel good....because I've spent too much time with people that don't.
People that make me laugh...because I like to laugh.

At 50 I am going to take better care of myself so I can be middle aged at 50.

Because 50 is the new 40...

or so my mom tells me.

Happy Birthday! Fifty is a great age!
I know.
Most days you will still think you are that 30 year old. (boy didn't 30 used to sound old??)
I like being 50+2 because my mind has to keep reminding my body that it isn't 30.
Everyday is still a learning experience even if we still think we know it all!lol..
Have a great birthday day.

Happy Birthday!!! I love what you wrote.
Spending time with people that make you happy and make you laugh is a great thing. Its such a good feeling. All that positive energy is so renewing.

Hope you had a great birthday! And that you got to eat cake. Or pie. Or donuts. Or something with whipped cream. :)

The goatmother told me to send you this: "Ah, 50. I remember 50. Jane Fonda said that when you hit 50 it is the best time of your life. I'm still waiting. :)" The goatmother isn't much of a philosopher is she? Maybe I'll get her a stump.

Aw, Happy Birthday, Wendy! I love that picture of you with your pups...
I hope you had a wonderful day.
You share a birthday with my son and with my uncle. :-) My oldest son, Teagan turned 21 on 8/24. My uncle turned 74 on 8/24. And today is my mom's birthday. See what good company you're in? All of them are kind *and* funny. :-)
Sending you a belated birthday hug. Now that I know, next year, it will come on time. :-)

I asked my Grammy if she was stressed about turning 90. She said, "Heavens no! Just another opportunity - each gift of a year - to grow in grace!" She had the most beautiful smile.

What a blessing to have been gifted with so much wisdom about your life and your philosophy so early in life. Some never figure it out.

May your coming year be blessed with many wonderful things!

Happy Birthday!

I remember turning 50. I was waiting for the feeling of being old to start.

haven't found it yet.

when I reflect back, I'm content now. I didn't achieve fame or fortune, but I am comfortable. My kids like me. I'm healthy. I'm alive.

all of those are things many can't say. So I feel that 50 is a great age. I like who I am, I like that my kids are young adults and they still like me too.

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday! I know exactly where you are coming from. From early on in my life, I knew who I was & who I wanted to spend my time with and YES, "I did not go with the flow."
I have my good & bad days, my memories and my hopes. I still strive for balance, harmony and peace. I can be alone and never feel lonely...I like the way I have become...and still ever learning. Enjoy your new 40!

Happy birthday and you have the right attitude about 50.

I just turned 51 in March but the year before when I turned 50 it was a good thing to me. But my cousin who was going to turn 50 in May thought it was the end of the world. I guess she got over it but she kept saying why are you soooo happy about turning 50 so I told her I would rather be happy about it than sad.

Hugs, Helaine
