Be Careful What You Wish For...Or...Too Much Of A Good Thing

I get pretty excited when the weather forecast is snow. Here in the Pacific Northwest our snow showers are few and far between. I have been hoping it would snow and we could have a few snow days from school. I tend to be a live for the moment kind of girl and don't care about the fact that it causes us to go later into June. So when the forecast said snow and it came and we had not one but three snow days I was pretty excited. I loved staying home and caring for the animals which keep me pretty busy just hauling water and plumping up the bedding and feeding them way too much hay. I put Sunny's red blanket on him. I made cinnamon rolls and put out seed for the birds. I've cleaned the house and am looking forward to my son and his little dog coming home for the holidays. But the snow is getting out of hand. It needs to stop soon. We are now in the middle of the storm of the century. They are predicting up to 14 inches in our area which is unheard of. My son is still at the Denver airport with his flight being delayed, so far, at least two hours and I have a feeling they will cancel it altogether because SeaTac is having a blizzard. My mom worry meter is going through the roof right now. And to top that off I was just watching the news when they broke in with breaking news and said, "This just in from Colorado, a plane has gone off the runway at the Denver airport." My heart stopped. My stomach clenched. They said it was a Continental flight. My boy is on an Alaska flight. I hope everything is OK but so far they haven't said any more. The snow is coming down so hard if my boy does get in I don't think I could get out to get him. Hubby works for the county and can run a snow plow and sander so guess where he is right now.
Now I wish the snow would have never come.

I know what you mean.....I love the snow, but only for awhile....and now they say it's going to be on and off for the next week. I'm getting tired of hauling water buckets, etc. I can really appreciate the folks with livestock that have snow all winter now. Hopefully we get a nice lull and your son gets in, you pick him up and then it can continue (if it must)for a nice white Christmas.

My son just called and they canceled his flight and don't think they can get him on another flight for 3-4 days:(

Oh, not good. I hope he makes it in okay. My son-in-law's brother is supposed to be flying in tonight from Houston. I haven't heard how that's going. Snowing hard here now. Lots predicted. Still very cold.

Stay safe and warm, Wendy.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas. That song keeps floating through my mind as I watch the snow falling outside my window. I'm like you goatgirl. When it first started falling last Tues. I was very excited. I love all the atmosphere it adds to the Christmas lights and crackling fire. But like you I'm ready to see pavement and green trees again.
Today as my hubby watches the Seahawks I'm going to curl up with a movie and quilt. I think Jason's heading out here this afternoon. Sorry to hear Kyle's flight is delayed. Hopefully he'll be home for Christmas. I wish you were my neighbor. Those cinnamon rolls sound good! I'd be at your door begging for one. :)

Bad time of the year for a major snow storm.

Ah, well - You and yours are safely warm, or are productively involved in helping others. It's annoying, but it could be much worse. Tend to your crittters, and compose yourself to patience... Or go outside and build yourself a massive snow fort. Heck, why not? How long as it been since the last time you built a huge ol' snow fort?

Hmmm now that's a hard one...I don't know if I have ever built a snow fort but you have inspired me...tomorrow I will go out and build a snowman.

Oh no, Wendy, I'm so sorry. Our fun snowstorm really has turned into the pits, hasn't it?
My son's 17th bday was yesterday and I couldn't get to him. He was at his dad's. For the first time in 17 years, I wasn't with my boy on the day of his birth. Yesterday, we woke up to 1/2" layer of ice on top of the foot and a half of snow. Then it snowed all day again yesterday - about another 6". We lost power twice yesterday (once for 3 hours, then for 90 minutes - we're so lucky we got it back!). We're going to try to dig our car out today.
I'm keeping my fingers and toes crossed for you that your boy gets home to you soon.
