I Can Taste That Scone Now

Tomorrow I am getting up at the crack of dawn to make my way to the Western Washington State Fair, in Puyallup, in the shadow of beautiful Mt. Rainer (I just put that in so I could show a picture I took of the mountain the other day), to show goats. I'm pretty excited because I haven't shown a goat in at least 30 years. Damn I'm old. I won't be taking Cora Belle but will get to show Betty who is Cora Belle's double. I am also hoping to show a LaMancha or two. I went over to the goat farm on Sunday and we practiced our walking and standing and shaved a whole lot of goat tails. Betty has a few good moves she will perform for the judge. The first go around will be the circus walk where she walks on her hind legs while I hold on to balance her. Followed by a pirouette that is sure to impress. Then the next go round will be her princess walk that should clinch it for her. The best goat by far was a darling recorded grade LaMancha named Binky. She walked nicely and then stopped and let me place her feet. When I was done she burped up her cud and started to chew contently, standing calmly while the judge (the goatfarmer) went over her. I may just have to take her in the showmanship class. Yes, I am entering showmanship. They are giving out baskets full of stuff to the first 4 places. I want a basket, but remember it's been 30 years and the back ain't what it used to be. But you can't win a basket if you don't enter the ring. I have my dairy whites freshly ordered from Landsend overstocks and I'm ready to go.
I will surely have a story to tell and lots of pictures to share. Oh yeah and I'm going to eat lots of scones.
So wish me luck.

Aaahhhhh...scones. With lemon curd and clotted cream. Wonderful memories of my time in London.

Please enjoy a scone for me, and have a great time.
I can't wait to read/see all about the goat show and fair when you get back.

Take care and be safe,

Oh and I forgot to say that your photos are gorgeous!
But that 'mountain' scares me a little. Isn't it overdue for a volcanic eruption? It looks so ominous. And I read not long ago in Natl Geo that with it's two volcanic craters and it's heavily glaciated sides that an eruption would be catastrophic to the surrounding area.
Give me chills just thnking about it.
How close are you to Mt Ranier?

Dancing With The Stars is next. I can give her some pointers there. Please eat a Peanut scone for me. And, if Betty wins, please DO NOT tell Peanut. He's bad enough as it is.
